Instructional Technology Specialist/ Developer

Full-time

Sauk Valley Community College seeks innovative individual for a full-time professional/technical opening as an Instructional Technology Specialist/ Developer.

Responsibilities:

Provide support for the development and integration of technology tools into the teaching/learning environment at the College. Provide day-to-day support for on and off-campus instruction.

1. Develop content specific interactive learning modules, multimedia, web resources, and instructional graphics for faculty to use with students in both online and on-campus courses.
2. Assist faculty in the creation of instructional videos to use with students in both online and on-campus courses.
3. Assist faculty in the design, development, creation, and acquisition or assessment of effective technology-enhanced instruction.
4. Assist faculty in locating and evaluating software appropriate to the instructional setting.
5. Assist faculty in the creation and delivery of Internet courses.
6. Assist faculty in the acquisition and utilization of multimedia resources for on-campus and off-campus courses.
7. Provide technical assistance to students utilizing technology, especially as it applies to alternate forms of delivery.
8. Train and assist faculty and staff on the use of equipment and software in the Instructional Technology Center (ITC) and technology-enhanced classrooms.
9. Develop and deliver training online and individually in instructional design and software tools to all faculty and staff.
10. Develop in cooperation with the Director, annual goals and objectives.
11. Provide backup to College Webmaster.
12. Assume all other reasonable professional duties and responsibilities as assigned by the Director.

Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in instructional technology, instructional design and development, or equivalent coursework required; Master's degree is preferred. Two years experience in integrating technology into the classroom environment preferred. Strong multimedia, graphic, and video design skills and experience with the following tools are required: Adobe products including Photoshop, Illustrator, Dreamweaver, Director, Captivate and Premier, and Flash action scripting. Skills with several of the following are required: course management systems (Blackboard, Moodle, etc.), Java applet, web page design and creation tools, graphic and multimedia design and creation tools, authoring tools, video production and editing, XML, open source, and knowledge of relational databases. Previous experience in scripting and programming language a definite plus.  Must be able to work one night each week and other non-standard hours as needed.
