Student Support Services
Student Support Services (SSS) is:
a federally funded TRIO program designed to assist first-generation, low-income, and/or college students with documented disabilities achieve academic success. The program provides extra support and encouragement for eligible students. We serve 200 SVCC students anually. Therefore, participants in our program will recieve lots of individual attention.- Project Services

SSS Waivers:
Each semester, the Sauk Valley Community College Foundation provides funding for SSS waivers that are awarded to five SSS participants. The awards include two tuition waivers, two book waivers, and one childcare waiver. A committee selects recipients on the basis of financial need and review of an essay written by the applicant.

You are eligible for Student Support Services if you
- Are a first generation college student:
Neither of your parents earned a four-year college degree
- Are economically disadvantaged:
Family taxable income should meet appropriate federal guidelines. Students who receive a Pell Grant and/or public aid usually meet this guideline.
- Have a documented disability:
The SSS staff works closely with SVCC's Student Needs Coordinator to help provide extra support for these students.

Student Needs Coordinator
The mission of the Student Needs Coordinator at SVCC is to provide services for students with special needs. Services provided by the Student Needs Coordinator are intended to assist learners with special needs in the successful completion of their educational and career pursuits at SVCC.
