What is Phi Theta Kappa? Phi Theta Kappa is not a fraternity or sorority; it is an international academic honor society that recognizes your academic achievement. There are chapters of Phi Theta Kappa in 1100 two year colleges across the U.S., as well as Japan, Germany, Puerto Rico, and Canada. When you become a member of Phi Theta Kappa, you truly become of a member of a recognizable international academic organization. Across the world, over 82,000 students will be inducted into Phi Theta Kappa this year alone. These students represent the college you attend and range in age from 17 to age 80 years old. The average age of a Phi Theta Kappan is 29 years old. Nearly 60% of Phi Theta Kappans are women. You were invited to join Phi Theta Kappa because you have proven your academic excellence here at Sauk Valley Community College. Currently, you have completed 12 or more college credits and currently have a 3.5 or higher GPA. Also, you must be currently enrolled at the college.
How do I become and remain a member? In order to become a member, you must receive a letter of invitation either in September or February of each academic year. Exact instructions will be included inside the letter. There is presently a $69 one-time membership fee. Faculty Advisor - Steve Nunez Phone - 815/288-5511 x.263
