Strategic Plan

A major component of accreditation addresses effective institutional planning that incorporates accepted best practices of including a wide variety of constituents, planning for improvement, and planning to meet future challenges. We believe our planning processes effectively meet these criteria.

The strategic plan positions Sauk to be a part of the vision and goals identified by the Illinois Board of Higher Education.

Sauk's strategic plan also recognizes the College's role as a part of the Illinois Community College System, governed by the Illinois Community College Board.

Sauk's strategic plan was developed under the leadership of the Organizational Planning and Improvement Committee (OPIC) which is comprised of employees representing all employment classifications and areas of the College.

In its environmental scan, OPIC examined a variety of institutional, regional, and statewide data. It recommended that we retain major elements of previous planning efforts including the mission and vision created for the 2007 strategic plan, as well as the shared ethical values adopted in 1999. Throughout its planning process, OPIC circulated its recommendations among staff, administrators, and the Board of Trustees for comment and input. The strategic plan links several internal processes including annual operational plans, assessment, equipment requests, facility changes, personnel change requests, and program review into a single system that is focused on achieving the College's priorities.

The plan's goals were approved by the Board of Trustees at its December 22, 2009 meeting, and the final plan was approved by the Board at its April 26, 2010 meeting. The plan was implemented in the 2010 – 2011 academic year (FY11).
