U.S. AND ILLINOIS CONSTITUTION

(60 questions, no time limit)

On each of the five tests an applicant needs to make a minimum score of

410 and obtain a total standard score of at least 2250 on the entire

battery (average score of 450 per test).

In Illinois, citizens are entitled by the State Constitution to free

education through high school.  GED tuition is completely funded by

state and federal money.  The only cost to you will be the $35 testing

fee that you will need to pay at you county superintendent's office and

the cost of a GED book if you wish to purchase one.

To register for classes please call 815/288-5511 and ask for ext. 312, to make an

appointment with a GED counselor.  After you complete a reading

evaluation and fill out the necessary paperwork, a counselor will

discuss the appropriate program for you.  Usually, you will be able to

begin classes immediately.

The GED test is administered at Sauk Valley Community College and

Wallace Educational Center in Sterling.  You must apply to take

the GED test by contacting your county superintendents office and by

paying a $35.00 application fee.  To sign up for GED tests, call the

SVCC Counseling Office, ext 220.  If you score less than 410 on an

individual test or your total score is less that 2250, retesting can be

arranged.  If you retest you can never lose points, the higher score is

always kept
