His wife, Penny, is holds a BSN degree from Clarke College in Dubuque, Iowa, and is Community Services Manager at Community General Hospital in Sterling. They have two daughters and a son. Faith Ann is a graduate of Morrison Institute of Technology and is employed with the Illinois Department of Transportation. Amanda holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology from Western Illinois University. Robert Jr. is a senior at Sterling High School.

Bob is a degreed tutor in the Learning Assistance Center, and teaches courses in prealgebra, algebra, and geometry. He enjoys fishing, spending time with family, molecular modeling, and computer upgrade work.
