Jack Stone earned a Bachelor of Science degree in 1970 and Master of Science in 1975, both from the University of Illinois in Urbana/Champaign. He taught for 35 years in the schools in Hanover and Elizabeth , Illinois . His courses included math for grades six through twelve (arithmetic to Pre-Calculus and everything in between), a few years of computer programming when the BASIC language was still in use, and 1 semester of World History.
Jack's wife Rita taught in grades three through five in Prophetstown. Jack's son Robert, also a U of I graduate, is teaching math for a second year at Sterling High School .
All three Stones have been active in Boy Scouting programs for the past twelve years. Family activities have included traveling, canoeing, camping and hiking. Jack and Rita have worked with the Illinois Education Association throughout their careers. Jack remains active in the union's political action program. |
