Guidelines for Practicum Worksite Search

 

  1. All your major field and general education requirements must be met before you can begin your practicum. If these requirements have not been met, you will need consent to continue form the Early Childhood Education Coordinator.
  2. As soon as you are aware you are eligible to start your practicum, you must make an appointment to meet with the Early Childhood Coordinator to discuss worksite options.
  3. You are responsible to make appointments with the director/supervisor at the worksites of your choice.
  4. Explain to the directors/supervisors the goals and requirements of the practicum experience.
  5.  Inquire if it would be possible to fulfill the practicum experience at that worksite.
  6. Chose the site at witch you would like to work. Be sure to notify all the director/supervisors you interviewed with your decision.
  7. You must complete all the worksites requirements before the first day at the worksite.    
  8. Check with the Director/supervisor about the following requirements at the worksite

   Completed Application

      Personal and Professional references

      Physical Examination (including TB test)

      Finger Printing-

      To arrange a time and a location of finger printing call 1-800-377-2080. At the time of the call have available your proper name, date of birth, social security number, height and weight

      Background check-

If you have been convicted of a criminal offence you are required to submit

1.      A statement, in your own words, describing the circumstances surrounding the conviction.

2.      A court record indicating the charges and deposition of the case. These must provide evidence of release from the charges.
