Purpose:
The purpose of this program is to help break the cycle of poverty and illiteracy by improving the educational opportunities of low-income families through the integration of early childhood education, adult education, parenting education, and parent/child literacy interaction activities into a unified family literacy program for ESL parents and children, ages 0-5.
Families who live in Whiteside County, who are learning English, and who have a child ages birth to five years qualify for services.
Remarks:
Classes meet Monday through Thursday from 8:30 - 11:00 AM and 12:30 - 3:00 PM at Wallace Educational Center. Whiteside County Family Literacy Partnership is a collaborative project between Head Start, Sterling Public Library, Parents as Teachers First Years, Sauk Valley Community College, and the Whiteside Regional Office of Education.
