SVCC Free Spring Adult Education Classes Starting January 14 and 15

Sauk Valley Community College’s Adult Education Department will again offer its free adult education classes this spring starting the week of January 14, 2013. Class times and locations include:

Dixon

  • St. Paul Lutheran Church, Tuesdays-Thursdays, 9-11a.m.
  • Sauk Valley Community College, Tuesdays-Thursdays, 5-7 p.m.

Sterling

  • IDES, Tuesdays-Thursdays, 9-11 a.m.
  • St. Mary’s Parish, Mondays & Wednesdays, 9-11:45 a.m.

Rock Falls

  • Rock Falls Middle Schools, Tuesdays-Thursdays, 5-7 p.m.

These classes prepare students to complete their GED, improve or develop skills in areas such as reading, writing and math, focus on career training and higher self-esteem to help lead to the workforce or a college education. Students can register on the first day of class at the locations listed above. If a student cannot  make it to the first day, don't worry. The classes are open enrollment so feel free to come anytime throughout the semester.

SVCC will also offer English as a Second Language courses at the YWCA (Mondays & Wednesdays, 5-7 p.m.) and St. Mary’s Parish (Tuesdays & Thursdays, 9-11:45 a.m.) in Sterling as well as Rock Falls Middle School (Tuesdays-Thursdays, 5-7 p.m.) at no charge. Registration will be on the first day of class as well.

The College’s Community Learning Lab is open Tuesdays-Thursdays 9 a.m.-7p.m. with an “instruction coach” on duty. The lab is for high school and adult students wanting assistance in academic areas. Programs include KeyTrain (workforce skills), MyFoundationLab (writing, reading, math) and Achieve 3000.
