The Campus Women's Organization (CWO) is Sauk Valley Community College’s newest student group. CWO's main goal is to support all female students (including staff and faculty) that try to fulfill their educational and career goals.

CWO’s objectives include raising awareness about women's' issues that include:

  • Relationship violence;
  • Sexual assault;
  • Child care;
  • Salary gaps;
  • Sexuality and reproductive rights;
  • Body image and eating disorders; and
  • Women's participation in decision-making positions and leadership. This includes monitoring women’s on-campus status and advocating practices and policies that promote equal participation.

Another objective of CWO is to advocate and support individuals of all genders working together to challenge attitudes and social constructs that promote unequal treatment based on gender, race, sexual orientation, etc.

To raise funds, CWO is spearheading a cookbook fundraiser and would appreciate recipes. For more information, contact Jamie Leech, CWO advisor, at ext. 345, or e-mail: leechj@svcc.edu.
