SVCC Student Awarded Prophetstown Lions Club Scholarship
Sauk Valley Community College student Jaret Lansford
of Lyndon was recently awarded the Prophetstown
Lions Club Scholarship for the 2010-11
academic year. The $400 scholarship was awarded through the Sauk Valley College
Foundation.
Lansford, who is majoring in meteorology, carries a 3.23 GPA. He plans to graduate from Sauk with an Associate in Science and transfer to Iowa State University to major in meteorology. He plans to pursue a career as a chief meteorologist at a television station.
A 2010 graduate of Prophetstown High School, Jaret is the son of Chris and Erin Lansford of Lyndon.
The Prophetstown Lions Club is one of 80 private donors that provide scholarships to deserving Sauk students each year. These scholarships play a crucial role in helping these students pursue their educational goals.
The Sauk Valley College Foundation is a non-profit corporation that helps to broaden the educational opportunities and services that SVCC provides for its students. Each year the Foundation distributes scholarships that total more than $160,000.
