Sauk’s Peer Mentor Program seeks veteran students who want to make a difference in the lives of their peers. Being a peer mentor will mean sharing college experiences with others, assisting in decisions related to course work, and being a role model for others to follow.
The peer mentor program matches mentors with students similar to their personality, interest, and major. The program allows for meetings between mentor and mentee regarding courses, college life, and concerns. Mentors will be responsible for the needs of fellow peers and overall guidance throughout the year as well.
Being a peer mentor at Sauk Valley is an opportunity to help others grow and for the self to grow personally. To qualify as a candidate one must have been enrolled at SVCC for a full year, hold a cumulative 2.8 GPA or higher, be knowledgeable about the Sauk atmosphere and show a strong sense of commitment and consideration.
If any interested in committing your time and knowledge to the mentor program, please obtain and submit applications to the Retention Office by June 30. For more information and questions, please contact Sarah McFarlane, Retention Specialist at firstname.lastname@example.org or 815-835-6368.
