Timeline

Building a relationship between the assessment of academic achievement and the strategic planning cycle led naturally to the question of how to make the data relevant to the consideration of the budget, given the various committees that would analyze and act on that data as it became available.Working within the statutory requirements for the budget cycle, college administrators, with input from the Assessment Core Team, carefully coordinated a schedule of deadlines for data collection, submission of reports, and action by various committees. The resulting timeline (see Illustration 6) provides cyclical reliability to the system by setting deadlines, by communicating the effects of each component part, and by connecting each component to the budgeting process. See Appendix F for the complete Planning Timeline. The Illustration shows the final quarter of the fiscal year.
