Academic Programs

Associate in Arts (656)

Community college students are strongly encouraged to complete an Associate in Arts or Associate in Science degree prior to transfer. Freshmen and sophomores who plan to major in sociology are encouraged to complete additional foundation courses (including courses in the social and behavioral sciences) and mathematics. The number of sociology courses should be minimized.

Students who have already chosen the university to which they plan to transfer should consult that institution's catalog or department advisor and an SVCC counselor or academic advisor in planning their program. Students pursuing social science education should meet with a counselor or academic advisor.
