This program prepares students to enter the workforce or transfer to four-year institutions to pursue a bachelor's degree in Mass Communication with an emphasis in journalism/news editorial or photojournalism. Some schools have specific requirements for all students for admission to the major (e.g., portfolio review, minimum grade point average {GPA} and/or other forms of assessment).

Note: Students should be computer literate. Computer skills may be acquired before or early in the college experience.

Students who have already chosen the university to which they plan to transfer should consult that institution's catalog or department advisor and an SVCC academic advisor in planning their program.
