Orientation Week

2011-2012 Term
August 8,2011 through May 31, 2012.

Service Requirements

Part-time members
Serve 900 total hours (25 hours a week), which includes time at the site, in training, and with service projects through the AmeriCorps office until May 30, 2011. The hours at the primary site will be decided upon by the site and the AmeriCorps member.
  • Living allowance/$6,260.00 (received during the service term from SVCC)
  • Education award/$2,775.00 (awarded by AmeriCorps after successful completion of the service)
Quarter-time members
Serve 450 total hours (12 hours a week), which includes time at the site, in training, and with service projects through the AmeriCorps office until May 30, 2011. The hours at the primary site will be decided upon by the site and the AmeriCorps member, with consideration for the college class schedule of the member.

  • Education award/$1468.00(awarded by AmeriCorps after successful completion of the service)
Minimum-time members
Serve 300 total hours (8 hours a week), which includes time at the site, in training, and with service projects through the AmeriCorps office until May 30, 2011. The hours at the primary site will be decided upon by the site and the AmeriCorps member, with consideration for the college class schedule of the member.

  • Education award/$1175.00(awarded by AmeriCorps after successful completion of the service)
Work-Study Members
To be a work-study member you must first see if you qualify in the Financial Aid office at SVCC. If you qualify, have your application sent to the AmeriCorps office. Work-study members can work Quarter-time or Minimum-time at the college receiving $8.25/hr. The only available positions offered to work-study members are based at the college. (15 hours a week until May 7 if member is a work study through SVCC)

Minimum-time {Summer Members}
Serve 300 total hours (30 hours a week) at the host sight from May 16-July 31, 2011.
  • Living allowance/$2,091.00 (received during the service term from SVCC evenly distributed between a 5 week pay-period)
  • Education award/$1175.00 (awarded by AmeriCorps after successful completion of the service)

ALL MEMBERS WILL BE REQUIRED to attend training EVERY FRIDAY at Sauk Valley College from 2:00-3:30pm, Room 1K4 (unless notified otherwise). Outlying members will attend only the first meeting of the month, followed by tuning in to distance learning for the remainder meetings. You will be allowed to make up a designated number of meetings but you must make arrangements with the Volunteer Coordinator.

*Assuming the member starts at the beginning of the program year, the Living Allowance will be evenly distributed between 19 week pay periods. If member starts late, the stipend will be adjusted appropriately.
