Region IV Champions!

The top seeded Skyhawks took on Kennedy King in the first semi-final on Saturday and it was a battle for 40 minutes against their rivals from Chicago.  The Skyhawks were tied at the half 38-38 and needed everything they had to get the 76-72 win and advance to the Championship game on Monday.  Leading the way for the Sauk Valley in the semi-finals were Sean Chislom with 26 pts. and 16 rebounds and Isaiah Box with 22 pts. and 7 steals.  Championship Monday saw the Skyhawks matched up against their arch rival Highland to make it an all Arrowhead final just like on the women's side.  The Skyhawks built a 6 pt lead at the half 43-37, but that was gone quickly in the second half as the Cougars took the lead and the battle was on.  The Skyhawks built a 6 pt. lead late but  Highland had one last run and sent the game into overtime.  In overtime Isaiah Box had three baskets to give the Skyhawks the lead and A.J. Sharp and Malcolm Mabry went 6 for 6 from the foul line late and the Skyhawks had the Championship 89-82.  Leading the Skyhawks were Sean Chislom with 20 pts. and 12 rebs. and Isaiah Box with 28 pts. and 7 steals.  Sean was named to the All-Tournament Team and Isaiah was named the Region IV Tournament MVP.  The Skyhawks will now travel to Moberly, Missouri and take on the Moberly Greyhounds on Saturday (3/5) at 7:00 pm with the winner going to the NJCAA Nationals the following week.  Go Skyhawks!
