2017-18 Men's Basketball Team Outlook

In the 2017-2018 season the Men’s Basketball team wants to take a step up from where they finished last year.

The Skyhawks returning no starters look to fill the void with talented returners. Riley Mehrens, a talented Shooting Guard from Dixon HS, looks to take on a major role. With his ability to shoot and draw two defenders we see him taking on more of a scoring role this year.  Trevor Otten and Matt  Wasilewski, both from Oregon HS, also may be called on to carry some of the load as we enter the season with a young team. Other returners include Ethan Sanford from Sterling HS and Jonah Green from Prophetstown HS.

Also returning this year is two players from the Regional Championship team of 2016. Montel Brown and Lamar Upshaw are back on the team. With their knowledge of what it takes to win, we see them bringing leadership and experience to our young core.

Newcomers include two transfers, Ryan Jackson, Cameron Graves. Freshman this year are: Trevon Adams, a skilled PG from Kansas City; Eli Leffelman; a strong physical PG from Newman was unanimous All-Conference; Garret Winfield, a great defensive player from Rock Falls HS with the ability to play multiple positions; Anthony Martinez from Plano HS, a stretch forward that can shoot it; Dominique Young and Quantel Blaylock, two posts that finish up a talented freshman class.
