2021-22 Men's Basketball Team Outlook

The Men’s Skyhawk Basketball Team begins this season with a big step up. Having added some great division 1 competition, this year will be the toughest schedule the Skyhawks have had to date.

The Skyhawks are returning four key members from their 2019-2020 squad which finished the year 21-10. Among those players are sophomore guards, Derian Duncan, Cade Nailor, Beau Bailey, and David Williams. All Four of these guys look to be key contributors in the Skyhawks success this year. Derian and Beau joined the Skyhawks from Dixon high school and are both poised to have a breakout year. Cade Nailor joined the Skyhawks from Rock Falls high school and is transitioning to the guard spot this year. David Williams started 30 games for the Skyhawks in 2019-2020 and is looking to continue his success this season.

Due to covid last season the Men’s basketball team was unable to participate in the season. However, most of the team from 2020-2021 returned this year for their first real season of college basketball. Those players include Jamal Winston, an athletic scoring wing from Davenport. Jalen Johnson, a Rock Falls alum, that understands hard work. Riek Riek, a high character big man from Minnesota that’s looking to have a big year for the Skyhawks. Andre Brandon, a highly skilled big man from Iowa City that continues to show leaps of improvement. Dylan Leaf, another Rock Falls Alum that came back to the Skyhawks last year from St Xavier. Dylan came off a back injury last year and now that he is healthy is just started to get back to his groove. Anthony Whorton Jr. his dad was a former Skyhawk as well. Anthony joins us from Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He is a tremendous athlete and continues to improve every day.

Newcomers to the Skyhawks for the 2021-2022 season are led by Devon House. Devon was a graduate from Newman High School. Devon joins the team as a transfer from University of Missouri Kansas City. He has great skill and is poised for a tremendous year with the Skyhawks. The next newcomer is Montez Taylor from Gilbert, Arizona. Tez is a lightning quick PG with a natural ability to score. Joining them is Leroy Williams and Davin Fields-Johnson, both from Milwaukee Wisconsin. Leroy is a tremendous athlete with a great ability of finding the ball and plays extremely hard. Davin is a young big with huge upside potential, he continues to improve daily and is bound to break out soon. Craig Jamieson comes to the Skyhawks from Switzerland. Craig is an extremely hard worker with a lot of growth. He continues to make improvements every day and is preparing for when he gets his chance. Our last newcomer is Jonah Lauff. Jonah joined the Skyhawks from Pana, IL. Unfortunately, Jonah was injured preseason, undergoing rehab he looks to make a full recovery and get back on the court in no time.

Overall, the Skyhawks are an extremely talented group. With some veteran leadership and a lot of young talent, these Skyhawks look to improve on their previous season and make a run at the regional
