The Skyhawks traveled to Malcolm X to avenge an early season loss to the Hawks in the season opening Sauk Classic. The first half saw the Skyhawks play well on both ends, holding Malcolm X to 25 points on the defensive end to build a 17 point lead at half 42-25. The second half saw Sauk build their lead to 20 points before the momentum switched with Malcolm X making an offensive run asthe Skyhawks ball handling and foul troubles continued to mount. The last seven minutes were back and forth as both Rico Combs and Kwan Waller fouled out forSauk Valley as the Skyhawks scored late and stopped Malcolm X to put the game into overtime. The overtime was again very close with Malcolm holding a twopoint lead with 18 seconds to play. The Skyhawks had a three point attempt late for the win, but it didn't fall and Malcolm X secured the rebound to send SaukValley to a disappointing loss in overtime, 80-78. The Skyhawks had three players in double figures as Sophomore Kwan Waller led the way with 24 points, while DJ Williams also had a strong offensive game with 18 points. Sophomore Forward Rico Combs was the third Skyhawk in double figures with 14 points and also led the Skyhawks with 11 rebounds.
