Game two on Saturday was the big one as the Skyhawks were trying to lock down the top seed for the Region IV tournament as they took on Kennedy King, who the Skyhawks had lost to on the road on Jan 17, 58-60.  The game was close with Kennedy King leading by 1 at the half 33-32.  The second half was the same until the Skyhawks took control the last eight minutes with aggressive defense and timely outside shooting to lock down a 70-61 victory over the Statesmen.  The Skyhawks put four players in double figures in the victory; starters Jordan Giddings with 20 pts., Aleena Hammelman with 16 pts., and Krystal James with 14 pts.  Off the bench Kayleen Terrock gave the Skyhawks a big lift with 14 pts. on 4 of 5 shooting from the 3!  The Skyhawks (21-5, 7-0) will travel to Highland on Tuesday (5:00 tip) for a conference match up, before returning home on Saturday (3:00 tip) to take on Kankakee on the 14th.  THE 14TH is also BANNER NIGHT for all the Sauk Valley athletes and teams that won titles or national honors the previous year; they will be honored at half time of the men's game.  Don't miss the games, the honors, and the Sauk Valley Pep Band that has been rocking the gym.  Go Skyhawks!!
