The Sauk Valley Skyhawks Cross Country team took on Carl Sandburg College in an early season dual meet at the campus of Sauk Valley Community College. 

The women’s team ran 2 miles on the course. The race was won by Nancy Jebet of Carl Sandburg with a time of 11:51. The Sauk Valley Runners followed closely behind with Haley Weidner in second (12:13); Nataleigh Nugent in third (12:33); Mekenzie Harden in fourth (12:41); Mayra Nava-Moyotl in sixth (13:34); Maegan McCue in seventh (14:03); and Katy Anderson in eighth (14:29). It was a great early season performance by the women’s team.

The men’s team ran the 5k course. The race was won by a Freeman Shoemaker of Carl Sandburg College with a time of 17:17. The Sauk runners followed behind with Ian Hussung finishing 2nd (17:46); Jacob Heller in 4th (18:25); and Boston Rodriguez in 8th (21:57). 

Sauk returns to action this Friday at Northern Illinois for the Huskie Challenge
