The Sauk Valley Community College Skyhawks visited the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater for the Tom Hoffman Invitational. The men ran an 8k course and did quite well with the competition. We had an injury to our number one runner which kept him out of the race, but freshman Jacob Heller (Dixon High School) finished in 63rd place with a time of 34:28 with sophomore Boston Rodriguez (Dixon High School) finishing right behind in 73rd place with a time of 38:30 in very difficult conditions.
The women ran exceptionally well in the 6k race. Freshman Haley Weidner (Bureau Valley) paced the Sauk Valley runners to a second place tie in the field with the host's University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and behind first place University of Wisconsin-Platteville. The top five for Sauk Valley finished in the top 25 for a great day. Haley Weidner finished in 6th place overall with a fantastic time of 25:57.4. She was followed by sophomore Mekenzie Harden (Dixon High School) in 11th place (26:52); freshman Nataleigh Nugent (Bureau Valley) in 13th place (27:19); sophomore Mayra Nava-Moyotl (Oregon High School) in 20th place (28:04); sophomore Maegan McCue (Sterling High School) in 23rd place (28:35); and sophomore Katy Anderson (Ohio High School) in 45th place (30:47). They ran very well for the hot conditions.
