SAUK’S DIAMOND SPORTS RECEIVE RECOGNITION

The Baseball and Softball programs at Sauk Valley Community College have earned post-season honors
following the 2021 spring campaigns. The Arrowhead Conference and the NJCAA Region IV released the
announcements of those awards recently.

The Softball program was recognized as the Arrowhead Conference champions. Head Coach Chelsea
Eads was name the Conference Coach of the Year. Joining her with league honors (All-Conference) were
infielders Payton Johnson and Madison Craft, outfielder Jordan Thormeyer, catcher Jenna Johnson and
pitcher Payton Yanes. Johnson, Craft and Thormeyer were also named to the Region IV All-Region
Second team, while Johnson and Olivia Edmundson (pitcher) were named to the Region’s All-
Tournament Team. The Skyhawks finished the year with a 12-6 record in conference play.

For the Baseball team, All-Conference honors went to infielders Matt Makarwich and Austin Miller, as
well as Designated Hitter Larson Barnett. The Skyhawks wrapped up the season in fourth place in the
conference and added 16 more wins over the previous season.
