Skyhawks Softball completed its spring trip to South Carolina with 7 wins and 4 losses. After beginning the trip 1-3 the Skyhawks went on a 6 game winning streak. Not being able to practice outside or play an actual game in this northern climate can lead to a slow start. Sauk split with John Logan College then lost two in a row to Spartanburg Methodist College. Spartanburg Methodist is a Division I Juco who had already played 20 games prior to playing Sauk. But then the timing started to come around for the Skyhawks and on day three of the trip the hitting and the winning started. Sauk played Spartanburg again and this time beat them 7-3. This started the streak as they played and won against Montreat 7-4, Henry Ford 16-4, Montreat 14-5, Cumberland 10-2, Montreat 11-3. The Skyhawks lost their final game of the trip to Henry Ford 4-5. Individual highlights included Kaiti Mathey going 16 for 29 at the plate with an amazing current batting average of .552%. Kelsey Hagan had two out of the park home runs and leads the team with 8 RBIs. Kiara Keleel pitched her way to 3-1 record with 18 strike outs and Cali Bartholomew with 1 win has a 2.13 ERA. With snow still on the field at home the Wednesday game will be rescheduled but the Skyhawks look to improve their winning record with games next weekend at South Suburban College.
