2013-14 Softball Team Outlook

The Skyhawks will start their fourth season under Head Coach Bob Lowe. Under Lowe the Skyhawks are 118-47. The record includes two Arrowhead Conference Championships, two Regional IV Tournament Champions, school records for wins, two NJCAA National Tournaments including a 7th place finish in 2013 . This year’s squad returns six sophmores players from last year including All Conference pitcher Kiara Kaleel (Amboy), as well as starters Alysha Guy (Dekalb), Brianna Shultz (Beloit, WI), Lori Lynch (Beloit, WI), Beth Fuller (Belvidere), and sophomore Jordan Melville (Oregon).

The Skyhawks freshman group is loaded with local talent including; Stephanie Kester (Sterling), Priscilla Aponte (Sterling) Mackenzie Staples (Sterling), Jordan Giddings (Rock Falls). That talent extends to freshmen from the surrounding areas and states as well including; Allison Naujokas (Hoffman Estates) Natalie Brown (East Moline) Sierra Scarnati (Monroe, IA) Sydney Johnson (Davis Junction) Jamie Hurd (Sterling) Kelly Christman (Mendota) Katherine Wayne (Fulton) Lowe knows these Freshman recruits are athletic and willing to put in the necessary work to continue on with the expectations of a successful program. This year again will bring challenges as the opposing teams will bring their best as the Skyhawks look to recapture the Arrowhead Conference and repeat as Regional IV Champions.

The Skyhawks will begin their quest beginning with their first home stand on March 25, 2014 against conference rival BlackHawk.
