Go Skyhawks! - Fear the Feathers

2021-22 Softball Team Outlook

The 2020-21 Skyhawks came in strong following a year off from the pandemic in the past season.  The Sauk Valley softball team were crowned Conference Champions in the spring of 2021, and Head Coach Chelsea Eads was named the Arrowhead Conference Coach of the Year.

So, what’s next for the Skyhawks?  Returning to the nest are All-Conference and All-Region performers Payton Johnson (Sophomore, Newman Central Catholic) and Madison Craft (Sophomore, Newman Central Catholic).  They will be joined by nine other sophomores and five freshmen.

Pitching will be the question, with only one full time pitcher on the card.  Sophomore Payton Yanes (Rock Falls) will spend a lot of time on the mound.  The Skyhawks are also developing some additional talent to be called to the bump.

Jenna Johnson (Sophomore, Newman Central Catholic) is expected to swing a big bat for the Skyhawks, coming off a year that included a .410 batting average, 10 home runs, and 37 RBI’s.  Madison Craft’s .396 batting average and 22 RBI’s from a year ago will bolster the team’s offensive output.
