Sauk Makes it Possible — You Make it Happen

05-13-15 Softball Nationals

L 0-8

The Skyhawks arrived in Clinton Miss. on Tuesday afternoon and attended the opening banquet Tuesdayevening.  On Wednesday after a noon practice to get ready for their first national game, the Skyhawks took on Lincoln Land from Springfield, Il. The Skyhawks were ready to play, but not ready for Lincoln Lands outstanding power.  The Loggers hit five home runs while the Skyhawks could not get the timely hits they needed as they fell 8-0 in game one.  This put the Skyhawks against Owens CC in the losers bracket on Thursday, needing to win two games to get to Friday final 8 action.  In a "game for the record books"  the Skyhawks struggled early and fell behind 10-1 going to the bottom of the third.  It looked bad for the Skyhawks, but like so many times this season they would not give in.  It was the "at bat" of the year for the Skyhawks as they scored 12 runs (!!!) on hits to all parts of the field to answer back and lead 13 -10 after three.  The games was score fest for both teams the rest of the way with the Skyhawks finally falling to the Express 18-22 in the longest game of the first two days to end their tournament run.  It was a great season for the Skyhawks and first year coach Noel Aponte with a Arrowhead Conference Championship, a Region IV Championship and a trip the the NJCAA National Tournament.  Well Done Skyhawks  Go Skyhawks!!!
