SVCC Skyhawks and McHenry CC lit up the scoreboard on Friday as they combined for 17 runs. In the end, SVCC Skyhawks won the offensive battle 9-8 in seven innings.

Hitters on both sides were strong at the plate as the teams combined for 21 hits, including 12 extra base hits.

The game was back-and-forth heading into the sixth, with three lead changes.

SVCC Skyhawks took the lead in the sixth inning and held on for the victory. SVCC Skyhawks went up for good on a two-run double by Alexandrea Sterenberg off #2, bringing home Taylor Wagler and Fallan Warnken.

SVCC Skyhawks held off McHenry CC, as McHenry CC was unable to overcome a five-run seventh inning deficit.

McHenry CC scored four runs in the seventh on two doubles. Still, McHenry CC couldn't catch SVCC Skyhawks .

The top of the first saw SVCC Skyhawks take an early lead, 2-0. SVCC Skyhawks 's rally started when Riley Lanham singled. Wagler doubled, plating Leah Gorham and Jenny Lawson.

McHenry CC pushed across four runs in both the third inning and the seventh. In the third, McHenry CC scored on an error, scoring #11.

SVCC Skyhawks added three more runs in the top of the seventh. A solo blast by Erin Newbury ignited the offense.

Game 2

SVCC Skyhawks wound up on the wrong side of a 8-1 score on Friday, tasting defeat at the hands of McHenry CC.

The lone run of the game for SVCC Skyhawks crossed the plate in the second inning on an RBI double by Juile Dodd.

McHenry CC never surrendered the lead after the third inning, scoring seven runs on a two-run double by #10 and three singles
