Head Coach Jay Howell

Head Volleyball Coach Jay Howell

Jay Howell begins his fifth season as head volleyball coach at Sauk Valley Community College. In Howell's first four seasons the Skyhawks have won 79 matches, and advanced to the Region IV finals or semi-finals three times. Prior to coming to the Skyhawks, Howell coached volleyball for 11 years at Neman Central Catholic High School, where he served as head coach from 2004-2009. He also c
oaches club volleyball for Excess Volleyball. After earning an associate's degree from Rock Valley College, Howell graduated from the University of Illinois with a bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering. He is employed by American Survey and Engineering as Vice President of Engineering. Jay resides in Dixon with his wife Sue. They have seven children (six daughters and one son), and one granddaughter. Their daughter Kayci is a member of this year's Skyhawks team.


Assistant Coach Abby Howell

The 2014 season marks Abby Howell's third season as Assistant Volleyball Coach for the Skyhawks. Howell is a former Sauk Valley CC student/athlete, having played basketball for the Skyhawks in 2005-2007. She is a graduate of Newman Central Catholic High School where she
was an All-conference performer in volleyball and basketball. After earning her associates degree at Sauk, Howell received a Bachelor of Science Degree from Western Illinois University, and a Master of Science in Special Education from Northern Illinois
University. Abby teaches special education at Oregon High School and resides in Galt.

Assistant Coach Karly Koch

Karly Koch
Karly Koch joins the Skyhawk staff as an Assistant Volleyball coach for the 2014 season. Karly is a former Sauk Valley CC student/athlete. She was the setter on the 2012 and 2013 Skyhawk teams that won 45 matches. Karly is a graduate of Dixon High School where she was an All-Conference performer in volleyball and a state track qualifier. Karly resides in Oregon.
