The Skyhawks started the 2008 season with a 3-0 win (26-24, 25-22, 25-23) over Black Hawk College of Moline. They were led by 16 key service points from freshman Ashley Hammelman (Sterling). Leading the way on the offensive attack in kills were returning players Katie Johnson (Sterling) - 6, Taylor Ortgiesen (Faith Christian) - 5, Elysia Tiegs (Huron Park) - 4, and Heather McCue (Rock Falls) - 4. Their first home game will be Wednesday, September 3 against Kishwaukee College at 7:30 pm.
