11-07-15 Region IV CrossOver

-For the second straight year the Sauk Valley volleyball team is going to the NJCAA Div. 2  Volleyball Championships!

The Skyhawks opened up the Region IV Volleyball Championships on Saturday with a 10:00 match with Moraine Valley.  The Skyhawks lost the first set 20-25, but then came back to win three straight 25-18, 25-21, 25-17 to advance to the "first" championship match against McHenry, the other first round winner (against Waubonsee).

With a chance to qualify for the nationals on the line the Skyahwks fell 16-25, 6-25, and 19-25 as McHenry qualified for the Nationals.  The Skyhawks had one more chance to qualify for the nationals, this time against Waubonsee who defeated Moraine Valley in the playback round.  This time the Skyhawks would not be denied winning the first set 25-16 and then two hard fought victories 25-22, and 25-23 to claim the victory and their second trip to the NJCAA Nationals in Phoenix, Arizona!

Leading the way in the national qualifying match were Kiarra Harris with 20 kills, Tressa Schular with 14 kills and 11 digs, and Kayci Howell with 24 assist.  The Skyhawks had four player named to the All-Tournament Team for their outstanding play;  Tressa Schuler, Brooke Williams, Kiarra Harris, and Taylor Pullan.

Congratulations to the Skyhawks on an outstanding Region IV Tournament and good luck at the NJCAA Nationals!!
