On Friday the Skyhawks split two tough 5 set matchesSauk opened up against Johnson County KS, and prevailed 26-16, 16-25, 27-25, 19-25 & 15-9. Leaders were Sommer Rhea with 18 kills, Bailey O'Brien with 17 kills, Hannah Peterson with 5 kill blocks, Gwen Lohr-Fandel and Bailey O'Brien with 17 digs, and Kacey Koch with 36 assists.
On Friday night the Skyhawks suffered a tough 5 set loss to host Kirkwood by scores of 25-15, 25-12, 18-25,19-25 & 16-18. Leaders were Sommer Rhea with 18 kills, Bailey O'Brien with 17 kills and 26 digs, Hannah Peterson with 7 kills and Kacey Koch and Paige Conner both with 22 assists.
On Saturday the Skyhawks played without Bailey O'Brien due to a knee injury suffered in Friday night's Kirkwood match, and came up short with 2 4-set losses to nationally ranked teams.
Against Illinois Central, Sauk lost by scores of 20-25, 25-17, 17-25 & 22-25. Leaders were Sommer Rhea with 16 kills and 19 digs, Gwen Lohr-Fandel with 11 kills, Hannah Peterson and Jensyn McKinney with 8 kills, Kacey Koch with 19 assists and Paige Conner with 18 assists and 18 digs.
The Skyhawks finished the tournament with a 4 set loss to #2 Central NE by scores of 23-25, 25-21, 21-25 & 15-25. Leaders were Hannah Peterson with 11 kills and 9 kill blocks, Sommer Rhea with 11 kills and 20 digs, Jensyn McKinney with 7 kills, Gwen Lohr-Fandel with 23 digs, Paige Conner with 17 assists and Kacey Koch with 16 assists.
Sauk is now 8-3 and are next in action on Tuesday with a conference match at Black Hawk in Moline.
