Sauk was at the College of Lake County in Grayslake for the Region 4 volleyball tournament on Saturday. Sauk posted 2 straight set wins to advance to the national tournament for the 4th straight season.In the first match of the day the Skyhawks beat Illinois Valley by scores of 25-9, 25-11 & 25-21. Leaders were Bailey O'Brien with 12 kills, 7 service aces and 16 digs; Sommer Rhea with 18 kills and 16 digs; Tori Smoode with 6 kill blocks; Jensyn McKinney with 4 kills; Kacey Koch with 19 assists and Paige Conner with 14 assists.
In the District A championship match, the Skyhawks defeated Waubonsee by scores of 25-17, 25-13 & 25-12. Leaders were Sommer Rhea with 16 kills and 10 digs, Bailey O'Brien with 9 kills and 12 digs, Hannah Peterson with 4 kills and 3 kill blocks, Mackenzie Skoumal with 4 kill blocks; Olivia Pilgrim with 15 digs and 5 assists; Paige Conner with 14 assists; and Kacey Koch with 13 assists and 9 digs.
Sauk had 4 players named to the all-tournament team: Bailey O'Brien, Sommer Rhea, Hannah Peterson and Kacey Koch.
The Skyhawks are now 32-8, and will play in the NJCAA national championships in Charleston, WV on November 16, 17 & 18.
