Purpose:

The mission of the YWCA of the Sauk Valley is to eliminate racism and empower women. To provide comprehensive services to victims of domestic violence and other violent crime and their children. To provide community and school educational programs, as well as professional training on domestic violence and related issues.

Remarks:

Non-emergency phone calls taken from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Emergency shelter and transportation is available for victims of domestic violence and their children. The YWCA Domestic Violence Program offers crisis intervention, individual counseling, emotional support, Victim/Witness Court and Systems advocacy, information and referrals for community resources, and education on the Illinois Domestic Violence Act. The program also has a PEARL Adult Support Group, PEARL Children's Support Group, a parenting program for adults and children, Abuser Educational Program, group for teens and parents, and Spanish materials and translators. Services are available to victims of domestic violence and other crimes which include robbery, muggings, rape, etc. Services are also available to witnesses and non-offending significant others and their children. Services are free to victims.
