The Education Outreach Program provides services to individuals between the ages of 17-21 who have dropped from school; meet low-income guidelines; and reside in Lee, Ogle, or Whiteside County. Students are provided or linked with academic instruction that results in earning their GED certificate as well as career-readiness skills to help them secure and maintain employment.
Office hours: Mon, Tue, and Thur: 8:00–4:00, Wed: 8:00–6:30, Fri: By Appointment at Wallace Educational Center in Sterling, Illinois.
Mon-Fri: By Appointment at Rock River Center, Inc. in Oregon, Illinois.
The program is administered by the Whiteside County Regional Office of Education and is funded by grants from B.E.S.T., Inc. and Sauk Valley Community College.
Services Provided: GED instruction, Career-readiness course, Resumé development, Paid work internship, Job search assistance, Transportation assistance, Payment of GED testing fees, $25 stipends for each GED exam completion, Up to $200 in stipends for program completion.
