Sauk Valley Community College students, faculty, and staff members with an interest in mathematics are encouraged to join the SVCC Math Club, an organization which has sponsored numerous math/science related field trips, math contests, and other activities designed to enhance the mathematical understanding of its members. All SVCC student members must be currently (or previously) enrolled in at least one SVCC mathematics course.
The club has the following purposes:1. To deepen member’s awareness, understanding, and appreciation for mathematics, its connections to other disciplines, and its many applications;
2. To assist club members in developing higher levels of mathematical
problem solving skills;
3. To provide opportunities for its members to become acquainted with others
in the SVCC community (and elsewhere) who share an interest in mathematics;
4. To accomplish the above goals in ways that are fun, interesting, challenging, and
meaningful to its members.
