Canvas is Sauk's learning management system for hosting online, hybrid, and enhanced courses. Canvas allows teachers to create engaging online learning experiences for students. In Canvas faculty can:
- create online learning activities such as discussions, quizzes, and assignments.
- post learning content such as videos, files, and links; or they can create their own pages.
- communicate with students through email, chat, a web conference tool, and by keeping a course calendar.
- provide feedback to students by posting grades, tracking attendance, and using video and audio assignment feedback tools.

Two, self-paced courses have been created in Canvas for faculty use. Essentials: Canvas is for faculty and staff learning to teach with Canvas. This course is a the first of the two Essentials courses required of faculty new to teaching online. Register for this course to get started. After successful completion of the Essentials: Canvas course, you may enroll in the Essentials: Teaching Online course.
