eBooks at SVCC

The Sauk Valley Community College Learning Resource Center offers eBooks from several publishers. All eBooks are accessible 24/7 both on- and off-campus and can be read online without being downloaded.

Popular eBooks

Please see the eRead Illinois page on our website for access to popular eBooks for adults and children!

Scholarly eBooks

CREDO

Reference books featured in the CREDO Reference research database are made available for access through the online catalog and will be displayed with other SVCC resources. They can be opened and read online, though off-campus access may require authentication using your college login credentials.

Springer

The LRC provides access through the online catalog to over 2000 eBooks by the Springer Publishing Company, primarily on Health Sciences topics. These books were obtained through a group purchase by the Consortium of Academic and Research Libraries in Illinois (CARLI). Springer eBooks can be viewed and searched online, and up to one chapter at a time can be downloaded and saved or printed.

NetLibrary

Another 2000+ eBooks in the SVCC catalog were purchased from NetLibrary, which was purchased by EBSCO in 2011. NetLibrary eBooks will be identified as such in the online catalog, but they can be accessed and used the same as EBSCO eBooks.

 EBSCO

The LRC is now purchasing eBooks from EBSCO Publishing. These books can be accessed through the online catalog or through the EBSCO database suite, found on the LRC Research Databases page. All of these books can be accessed and read online, but they can also be checked out and downloaded to portable devices. Please see the links below for directions on downloading to external devices.

Checking Out EBSCO eBooks

You can read EBSCO eBooks online without downloading them and checking them out. Just click the “eBook Full Text” link after you have accessed the book from the online catalog or from the EBSCO eBook Collection.
