Sauk Valley Community College’s AmeriCorps Program is sponsoring a School Supplies Drive to provide school supplies for students in need from pre-school through middle school. Donation boxes and money donation jars are at SVCC and at stores in the area. Supplies and donations will be accepted through Tuesday, September 1.
Donation boxes are located at SVCC in front of the Information Center in the East Mall, in front of the College’s Follett’s Bookstore, and in front of the AmeriCorps office, Room 3M2. Stores with AmeriCorps donation boxes include County Market stores in Dixon and Sterling, and SBM in Sterling. Jars for monetary donations are located at the Dixon Food Center, Casey’s, Rock Falls, Friendship House, Rock Falls, and SBM, Sterling.
In addition, at the end of the school supplies drive, Wal-Mart and Walgreens stores will provide gift certificates for any additional supplies needed, and SBM in Sterling will donate school supplies that may still be needed.
Area stores are invited to sponsor a donation box or jar. For more information on AmeriCorps’ School Supplies Drive, call 815/288-5511, ext. 216.
