Sauk Valley Community College student Ryan McKanna of Rock Falls has been awarded a Sterling Rotary Club Scholarship for the 2009-10 academic year. The $500 scholarship was distributed through the Sauk Foundation.
McKanna, a political science major, carries a perfect 4.0 GPA, and is a member of Sauk’s cross-country team. He plans to graduate from Sauk in 2011 with an Associate in Arts and transfer to the University of Illinois - Springfield to major in legal studies. He would like to pursue a career with the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
A 2009 graduate of Rock Falls High School, Ryan is the son of Robert and Janice McKanna of Rock Falls.

The Sauk Foundation is a non-profit corporation that helps to broaden the educational opportunities and services that SVCC provides for its students. Each year the Foundation distributes scholarships that total more than $160,000.
