Sauk Valley Community College student Kelsi Ricks of Dixon has been awarded a Kiwanis Club of Dixon Scholarship for the 2009-10 academic year. The $1,000 scholarship will be distributed over two consecutive semesters by the Sauk Foundation.
An early childhood education major, Ricks is a member of Sauk’s cheerleading and dance squad. She plans to graduate from Sauk in 2011 with an Associate in Science and then major in early childhood education at either Western or Southern Illinois University. Ricks would like to pursue a career teaching kindergarten.
A 2009 graduate of Dixon High School, Kelsi is the daughter of Dolph and Karen Ricks of Dixon.
Founded in 1915, Kiwanis International is comprised of service- and community-minded individuals who support children and young adults worldwide.
The Sauk Foundation is a non-profit corporation that helps to broaden the educational opportunities and services that SVCC provides for its students. The Sauk Foundation distributes numerous scholarships for Sauk students that total more than $160,000 annually.
