Sauk Valley Community College’s Office of Personal and Professional Development will offer its 60 hour Dental Assisting Program from 6 to 9:30 p.m. on Mondays and Wednesdays, October 11 through December 8, at Sauk.
This course familiarizes students with all areas of pre-clinical dental assisting and provides training in the professional skills required to be an assistant in the dental practice. Administrative aspects of this program include the history of dentistry and dental assisting, introduction to the dental office and legal aspects of dentistry, policies and guidelines. Clinical aspects include introduction to oral anatomy, dental operatory, dental equipment, introduction to tooth structure, primary and permanent teeth, dental hand-pieces, sterilization, and other areas.
In addition to entry-level administrative jobs, this course is ideal for students interested in pursuing a Dental Hygienist program. There is no state or national certification objective with this course.
