Sauk Valley Community College will again offer its Dialysis Technician certification program through the Office of Corporate and Community Services. This 50-hour program will meet from 6 to 9:30 pm on Mondays and Wednesdays from October 11 through December 1 at Sauk.
This program provides students with the knowledge and skills needed to perform the duties of dialysis technicians. Under the supervision of physicians and nurses, dialysis technicians operate kidney dialysis machines, prepare dialyzer reprocessing and delivery systems as well as maintain and repair equipment. Technicians also work with patients during dialysis procedures and monitor and record vital signs as well as administer local anesthetic and drugs as needed.
Registration can be made in the Office of Admissions, Room 1J1, between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays or between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. on Thursdays and Fridays. For cost information call Sauk’s Office of Personal and Professional Development at 815-288-5511, ext. 212.
This program does not include national or state certification as part of its overall objectives, and does not offer a student internship or clinical rotation offered as part of the curriculum.
