Sauk Valley Community College student Samuel Twining of Sterling recently received the Bi-County Foundation Scholarship for the 2010-11 academic year. This $700 scholarship was awarded through the Sauk Valley College Foundation.
Twining, a theater arts major at SVCC, plans to pursue a career in musical theater and transfer to a four-year institution. A 2010 Sterling High School graduate, Sam is the son of David K. and Patricia Twining of Sterling.
The Bi-County Foundation is one of 80 private donors that provide scholarships to deserving Sauk students. The Sauk Valley College Foundation is a non-profit corporation that helps to broaden the educational opportunities and services that SVCC provides for its students. Each year the Foundation distributes scholarships that total more than $160,000.
