Sauk Valley Community College is offering its Personal Trainer Certificate Program through World Instructor Training Schools (WITS). Classes will meet from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. every other Saturday from February 5 through April 16, in Room 2D15.
Topics will include anatomy, exercise physiology, nutrition, health screening. The class will also include 15 hours of hands-on training in which students will work one-to-one with clients. WITS Personal Trainer Certification is the only certification that requires classroom, hands-on training, and a required internship. WITS have partnerships with fitness centers nationwide and provide internship sites and employment opportunities for students.
A prerequisite for the class include of CPR/AED training. Students must also complete a 30-hour internship for final certification at a fitness facility.
According to information from witseducation.com, WITS has offered educational opportunities for aspiring and current fitness professionals and business owners in the fitness industry since 1993. WITS curriculums are taught at nearly 200 universities, colleges, and community colleges in 39 states. WITS has more than 600 instructors with health-related degrees, personal trainer certification, and no less than three years in the field.
WITS is recognized by the International Association of Continuing Education and Training, the American Occupational Therapy Association, the Board of Certification for Athletic Trainers, and are an affiliate of the National Board of Fitness Examiners and National Council for Continuing Education and Training (NCCET).
