Students registering for fall classes at Sauk Valley Community College have a last chance to apply for financial aid before fall classes begin.
Sauk’s Office of Financial Assistance will sponsor “Make it Pay, Financial Aid Day” from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Thursday, July 21, at the Office of Financial Assistance. This event is an absolute must for Sauk students that plan to pay for classes via financial aid and have not completed the process. Attending “Make it Pay” will ensure that those who are eligible for financial aid will meet the deadline for full consideration.
“Our staff is here to help students receive the most financial aid available to meet their educational needs. Don't miss this opportunity,” said Deb Stiefel, coordinator of financial assistance. Stiefel explains that the last day to complete all documents and FAFSA is August 8. After this day students will have to make arrangements for deferment plans or pay their own way. The FAFSA and financial aid forms will be accepted after August 8 but will not be processed in time for the start of the fall semester. Coming to “Make it Pay” will provide help to finish all forms to be turned in on time.
Those interested in attending will need to bring their pin from the Department of Education, 2010 Federal & State taxes and W-2's for student, 2010 Federal & State taxes and W-2's for parent if the student is a dependent and a driver’s license or state ID.
Fall classes run August 22 through December 16. Spring classes run January 9, 2012 through May 10, 2012. Financial aid that is approved is good for the fall 2011 and spring 2012 semesters. For more information call Sauk’s Office of Financial Assistance at 815-288-5511, ext. 339.
