Therapy Dog Training Starts September 14

September 2011

Sauk Valley Community College will offer the four-session course, Therapy Dog Training, from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. on Wednesdays, September 14 through October 5, in Sauk's T-1 Building.

This training and information will help prepare owner and dog to work effectively as a team in a variety of environments. There is an extreme need for owner-dog team visits in the areas as therapy dogs visit nursing homes, group homes, and schools. The class includes movies, site visits, and presentations.

There will be optional certification testing upon course completion. Registration with the Delta Society which includes insurance is recommended. Shot records are a must and dogs should have a friendly disposition. Textbook is available for $40.

Cost for the class is $45. To register, stop by Sauk's Office of Admissions and Records between 8 a.m. and 7 p.m. Mondays through Wednesdays, or between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Thursdays and Fridays. For more information on this class, call Sauk's Business and Community Education Office at 815/288-5511, ext. 212.
