Sauk Valley Community College’s Phi Theta Kappa Honors Society will host Sauk Valley Newspaper’s David Giuliani Wednesday, November 9 at 12:30 p.m. in room 1K4 as he discusses his reports and the importance of the Freedom of Information Act (FOIA).
Giuliani has published several articles on FOIA as he conducted an investigation on exactly how open government offices are in the Sauk Valley area. He has questioned how the area offices follow the law, if they do follow it and what it takes to get information that is supposedly accessible to the public.
This hour long presentation will help audiences better understand the importance of FOIA and their right to public information. Many do not understand how many documents, research and information are at their hands as an American citizen and Giuliani will explain the procedure on what can and cannot be accessed because of FIOA.
